This installation guide is designed to help you fit your Optimise Automotive carpet kit.

Your Kit - What’s Included:

Your parcel should contain nine pieces:

• 1x front floor carpet (main floor)

• 1x rear floor carpet (main floor)

• 1x lower bulkhead carpet

• 1x cross member carpet

• 1x driver side inner front wheel arch & under driver side door carpet

• 1x passenger side inner front wheel arch & under driver side door carpet

• 1x under rear seat (subframe mounting panel) carpet

• 1x gear gaiter

• 1x handbrake gaiter

Tools Needed (Recommended):

Clean lint-free cloth Grease removal cleaning agent (such as panel wipe) High temperature-resistant contact spray adhesive Sharp knife

Preparation:

Before installing your new carpet kit, you will need to remove:

• Front seats

• Front seat belt receivers

• Front seat belt lower mountings (located at the base of the B pillars)

• Gear knob and gear gaiter (if required)

• Handbrake handle cover and handbrake gaiter (if required)

• Original carpet kit

• Original underlay

• Any OEM sound deadening padding

Pre-Installation:

Before fitting your new carpet kit, clean all areas where adhesive will be applied using a clean lint-free cloth and a grease removal cleaning agent.

Allow the cleaning agent to dry and/or evaporate naturally before applying any adhesive.

Installation:

Installing the Under Rear Seat Carpet:

The first piece to install is the under rear seat (subframe mounting panel) carpet.

Apply contact spray adhesive to the rear of the carpet piece.

Apply the same adhesive to the subframe mounting panel, covering the entire surface where the carpet will be fitted.

Allow the adhesive to become touch dry (tacky) before continuing.

It is important that the adhesive is allowed to become touch dry before fitting the carpet. If the adhesive is still wet, the carpet may not bond correctly.

Fit the carpet into position, aligning it around the various shapes and obstacles of the panel.

Installing the Inner Front Wheel Arch & Under Door Carpets:

The next pieces to install are the inner front wheel arch and under driver/passenger side door carpet pieces.

Apply contact spray adhesive to the rear of the carpet pieces.

Apply the same adhesive to the inner wheel arches and under door areas, covering the complete fitting surfaces.

Allow the adhesive to become touch dry (tacky) before continuing.

It is important that the adhesive is allowed to become touch dry before fitting the carpet. If the adhesive is still wet, the carpet may not bond correctly.

Fit the carpet pieces into position, aligning them around the various shapes and obstacles of the panels.

Trim any excess carpet from around the door openings, keeping the carpet edge flush with the door opening.

Do not wrap the carpet around the edge of the door opening.

Installing the Lower Bulkhead Carpet:

The next piece to install is the lower bulkhead carpet.

Apply contact spray adhesive to the rear of the carpet piece.

Apply the same adhesive to the lower bulkhead area, covering the complete fitting surface.

Allow the adhesive to become touch dry (tacky) before continuing.

It is important that the adhesive is allowed to become touch dry before fitting the carpet. If the adhesive is still wet, the carpet may not bond correctly.

Fit the carpet into position, aligning it around the various shapes and obstacles of the panel.

Installing the Cross Member Carpet:

The next piece to install is the cross member carpet.

Apply contact spray adhesive to the rear of the carpet piece.

Apply the same adhesive to the cross member, covering the complete fitting surface.

Allow the adhesive to become touch dry (tacky) before continuing.

It is important that the adhesive is allowed to become touch dry before fitting the carpet. If the adhesive is still wet, the carpet may not bond correctly.

Fit the carpet into position, aligning it using the shapes and seat bracket holes within the panel.

Installing the Main Floor Carpets:

The final carpet pieces to install are the main floor sections:

• Front floor carpet

• Rear floor carpet

These sections simply fit into position without adhesive.

Align the carpets around the various shapes and fixing points within the Mini floor.

For the front seat belt buckle fixing holes located in the rear floor carpet, there are two options available depending on the model of your Mini.

Both options are pre-cut into the closed-cell foam, but are not trimmed through the carpet.

Select the required position and carefully cut a small hole through the carpet using a sharp knife to allow the fixing bolt to pass through and attach correctly to the Mini floor.

Installing the Gaiters:

With the carpet kit installed, the final step is to install the gear and handbrake gaiters.

To install the gear gaiter, simply slide the gaiter over the gear stick. The Velcro backing will attach securely to the Optimise Automotive carpet kit.

Reinstall the gear knob.

To install the handbrake gaiter, simply slide the gaiter over the handbrake handle. The Velcro backing will attach securely to the Optimise Automotive carpet kit.

Reinstall the handbrake handle cover if required.

Post-Installation:

With your new carpet kit installed, you can now reinstall:

• Front seat belt receivers

• Front seat belt lower mountings (located at the base of the B pillars)

• Front seats
