Classic Mini Dash Trim Kit Installation Guide

This installation guide is designed as a guide for fitting an Optimise Automotive dash trim panel kit.

Your Kit - What’s Included:

Your parcel should contain five pieces:

  • 1x driver side binnacle dash liner

  • 1x passenger side binnacle dash liner

  • 1x padded dash tray liner

  • 1x driver side under dash tray liner support tray

  • 1x passenger side under dash tray liner support tray

Tools Needed (Recommended):

No tools are required to install a dash trim panel kit.

Preparation:

You install a dash trim kit after you have installed all of the auxiliaries in and around the dash area, this includes wiring and heater pipes. Plus, you also install the dash liners after you have installed the binnacle and/or padded dash rails.

It can be difficult to remove the binnacle dash liner (after installation) without damaging it, therefore we recommend ensuing that you have everything that is hidden behind the binnacle dash liner correctly installed and/or plumbed in before installing the binnacle dash liner.

Pre-Installation:

Before installing your new dash liner kit you will need to remove the fresh air-vent cowling’s (if you Mini has fresh air-vents) and the original dash liner kit. You will not need to remove the air-vents as the dash liner will fit around/over them.

Installation - Under Dash Tray Liner Support Trays:

First of all, install the lower dash tray liners to the dash trays, they simply slide into place (one either side):

  • In front of the windscreen heater pipes.

  • On the front edge, they go under the dash rail metal edge and sit on the shelf.

For reference, the dash tray with the cut-out is the driver side tray and the cut-out fits around the steering wheel column bracket.

Installation - Padded Dash Tray Liner:

Next up, install the lower dash tray padded cover to the dash tray, it simply fits into place:

  • In front of the windscreen heater pipes.

  • On the front edge, it goes under the dash rail metal edge.

  • Along the rear edge, fold the liner (the extra length) up and around the heater pipes/wires etc.

Installation - Binnacle Dash Liners:

Finally, install the binnacle dash panels (one at a time), they both fit in the same way and the liners slides into place:

  • Under/behind the metal top rail lip.

  • On top of the bottom dash tray liner.

  • In front of the windscreen heater pipes.

  • The straight edge is the top, the shaped edge is the bottom.

To attach the side of the liner in place:

  • Remove the rubber trim from the door opening.

  • Wrap the dash liner tab around the bodywork.

  • Reinstall the rubber trim from the door opening, trapping the dash liner tab in place.

Post-Installation:

With your new dash liner kit now installed, you can reinstall the fresh air-vent cowling’s (if you Mini has fresh air-vents).
