Preparation:
Before installing your new parcel shelf board you will need to remove rear seat squab and the original parcel shelf board/carpet.
Pre-Installation:
If you are installing the parcel shelf board to a MK7 onwards (1995 to 2000) Mini clean the lower C pillar areas (either side) that you will be sticking/spraying with contact adhesive using a clean lint free cloth and a grease removal cleaning agent. Allow the cleaning agent to dry and/or evaporate naturally.
Installation - Parcel Shelf Board:
If you are installing the parcel shelf board to a MK1 to MK6 (1959 to 1995) Mini please start at 5.
Using a contact spray adhesive spray glue onto the back of the lower C pillar trim pieces.
Using the same spray adhesive spray glue onto the lower C pillar areas (either side), covering the entire surface. Or in other words spray the glue where the piece will be stuck to the Mini.
Wait for the spray glue to go touch dry (tacky) before continuing.
Please Note It is vitally important that you wait for the spray glue to go touch dry before attempting to stick the covers in place. If you do not wait for the glue to be touch dry the covers will not stick correctly.Stick the piece in place, aligning them in and around the obstacles, using the shapes of the piece.
Install the parcel shelf into place, it simply slides into place with a tight fit.
Installation - Speakers:
If you are installing speakers to the board we recommend that you install the speakers using nuts and bolts, as described below:
Place the speaker in the installation location and make a mark through each of the mounting holes on to the parcel shelf.
Move the speakers out the way and drill holes where you have just made marks. Use a 4.5 HSS (metal) drill bit and drill through both the parcel shelf board and the metal parcel shelf.
Place the speakers back in the installation location and line up the the speakers mounting holes with the holes that you have just drilled.
Slide the bolts through the lined up holes (we recommend using M4x40mm pan head machine screw bolts).
Attach the nuts to the bolts (we recommend using M4 nuts).
If you are using the recommended nuts and bolts tighten them up using a Ph2 cross-head screwdriver and a 7mm socket.
Post-Installation:
With your new parcel shelf now installed, you can reinstall the rear seat squab.
