Classic Mini Parcel Shelf Board Installation Guide

This installation guide is designed to help you fit your Optimise Automotive rear parcel shelf board.

If you have any questions during installation or need any assistance, please get in touch and I'll be happy to help.

Your Kit - What’s Included:

Your parcel should contain one board and two lower C pillar trims (MK7 onwards only):

  • 1x parcel shelf board

  • 1x driver side lower C pillar trim (MK7 onwards only)

  • 1x passenger side lower C pillar trim (MK7 onwards only)

Tools Needed (Recommended):

  • Clean lint-free cloth (MK7 onwards only)

  • Grease removal cleaning agent (such as panel wipe) (MK7 onwards only)

  • High temperature-resistant contact spray adhesive (MK7 onwards only)

  • Pen (speaker boards only)

  • Drill (speaker boards only)

  • PH2 cross-head screwdriver (speaker boards only)

  • 1/4" ratchet handle (speaker boards only)

  • 7mm socket (speaker boards only)

  • 4.5mm metal drill bit (speaker boards only)

Preparation:

Before installing your new parcel shelf board, you will need to remove:

  • Rear seat squab

  • Original parcel shelf board/carpet

  • Original lower C pillar trims (MK7 onwards only)

Pre-Installation:

If you are installing the parcel shelf board into a MK7 onwards Mini (1995 to 2000), clean the lower C pillar areas on both sides where adhesive will be applied.

Use a clean lint-free cloth and a grease removal cleaning agent to remove any dirt or residue.

Allow the cleaning agent to dry and/or evaporate naturally before applying adhesive.

Installation:

If you are installing the parcel shelf board into a MK1 to MK6 Mini (1959 to 1995), please begin from "Installing the Parcel Shelf Board" below.

Installing the Lower C Pillar Trims (MK7 Onwards Only):

Apply contact spray adhesive to the rear of the lower C pillar trim pieces.

Apply the same adhesive to the lower C pillar areas on both sides of the Mini, covering the complete fitting surface.

Allow the adhesive to become touch dry (tacky) before continuing.

It is important that the adhesive is allowed to become touch dry before fitting the trims. If the adhesive is still wet, the trims may not bond correctly.

Fit the trims into position, aligning them around the various shapes and obstacles of the C pillar areas.

Installing the Parcel Shelf Board:

Install the parcel shelf board into position.

The board simply slides into place with a tight fit.

Installing the Speakers (Speaker Boards Only):

If you are installing speakers into your parcel shelf board, I recommend securing them using nuts and bolts as described below.

Place the speaker into the required installation position and mark through each mounting hole onto the parcel shelf board. Remove the speakers and drill the required holes where marked.

Use a 4.5mm HSS (metal) drill bit and drill through both the parcel shelf board and the metal parcel shelf underneath.

Place the speakers back into position and align the mounting holes with the holes you have drilled.

Slide the bolts through the aligned holes.

I recommend using:

  • M4 x 40mm pan head machine screws

  • M4 nuts

Tighten the fixings using a PH2 cross-head screwdriver and a 7mm socket.

Post-Installation:

With your new parcel shelf board installed, you can now reinstall the rear seat squab.
