Original Interiors

You might be lucky enough to own a sought-after, high-value Mini such as a Cooper S or 1275GT, where preserving an authentic OEM interior is an important part of protecting the originality and value of the car.

As these examples demonstrate, originality certainly doesn't have to mean boring. When carefully restored and combined with the right build theme, an authentic interior can be the perfect choice.

Some Minis are simply best kept factory (OEM) — and who can argue when they left the production line looking so good? Sometimes there's simply no need to change the design of the interior.

If you're looking to restore your Mini with an OEM-style replacement interior, please get in touch and I'll be happy to advise you on the options available.

Alternatively, an OEM+ inspired interior can be just as effective as a fully customised retro interior.

This approach takes design cues from original Mini interiors and combines them with carefully considered upgrades to create a high-end bespoke interior that looks as though it could have rolled straight off the BMC production line at Longbridge.

There is something rather magical about recreating an original Mini interior. Whether you're looking for an authentic OEM interior or an OEM+ bespoke interpretation, I can help you bring that vision to life.

Retro Interiors

Retro-inspired interiors fit right between OEM+ interiors and more heavily modified interiors. They're currently the in thing, with resto-mod Minis all the rage right now — and I couldn't be happier.

The goal is to create a period-correct looking interior that improves on the original factory finish and appearance, while retaining the charm and character that makes the Classic Mini so special.

Inspiration for retro interiors often comes from high-end, beautifully restored and reimagined classic cars, such as those created by Singer Vehicle Design and CALLUM design.

The aim is to create a high-end retro interior with carefully considered materials, colours and details — capturing the feel of something that could have rolled off the Porsche production line at Zuffenhausen in the 1970s.

Retro builds often work particularly well with non-original front seats, with period-correct Cobra bucket seats being a great choice for this style. Vintage leathers and fabrics such as Harris Tweed can then add the right level of character and authenticity.

Colour choice is also essential. To achieve the right look, I recommend a muted retro colour palette, with shades such as cream, tan, burgundy and dark blue working particularly well.

I absolutely love resto-mod builds and, as the examples above demonstrate, I'm always excited to help bring your ideas to life and create something truly special for your Mini.

Modified Interiors

What I class as “modified” interiors are for those who want something a little more exuberant — something completely different from the norm and designed to make a statement.

The aim is to create an interior that really stands out from the crowd, often taking inspiration from luxury race cars or the performance cars of the early 1990s.

Modified builds often include non-original front seats, with a wide range of aftermarket options available to suit different themes and styles.

Colour choice is also important, with bold or unusual colour combinations helping to establish the overall character of the build. Bespoke design features such as diamond stitching, one-off door card designs and non-original materials can then be combined to create a truly individual interior that stands out from the crowd.

I believe individuality should be celebrated. Your Mini is yours, and in my opinion, you should do whatever you want with it.

After all, standing out from the crowd is what made the world fall in love with the Mini in the first place.

Whatever you have in mind, I'm here to help turn your ideas into reality.

I love what I do.

If you're thinking about restoring and/or replacing the interior of your Classic Mini, I'd love to hear about your project.
