MK3 Onwards Interiors.
Here is everything you need to know and budget for your new Classic Mini interior.
Choosing the right interior for your Mini is an exciting part of any build, but with so many options to consider, it can sometimes be difficult to know where to start. I've put together these guides to give you the information, recommendations and pricing you need to plan your new interior with confidence.
The information below covers the different interior components, the basic options available and the base costs involved, helping you understand what works well together and what you need to budget for. It's designed to give you a clear starting point, whether you're planning a complete interior or simply looking to replace or upgrade individual items.
For the visual inspiration, make sure you also take a look through my galleries. These guides are all about the practical information and prices, while the galleries are where you can see the finished interiors, explore different ideas and start imagining what could work for your own Mini.
For reference, all prices detailed below are based on items trimmed in my standard trimming options and produced in my standard designs.
My standard trimming options can be viewed here: LINK
And my standard designs can be found within my standard product ranges here: LINK
If you'd like to change the standard trimming options or standard designs, that's absolutely fine, but additional costs may apply depending on the changes required.

Seats
Let's start with the most important part of any interior — the seats.
There are countless options to choose from. You can keep your original front seats, install aftermarket seats such as Cobra fixed-back bucket seats, or even use seats from another classic car. The possibilities are almost endless.
I recommend designing your interior around your front seats, as they should be the focal point of the finished interior. Every style of front seat is different, so choosing the right seats is an important first step in deciding the overall look and feel of your interior.
Once you've chosen the front seats you like, I can work with you on the seat cover design and trimming options to bring the whole look together.
Original Seats
Original looped-leg Classic Mini front seats are all interchangeable, using the same fixing brackets. This means you can easily swap your original front seats for a different style of original Mini seat — something that's particularly useful when retrofitting a later Mini or looking to modernise an earlier Mini.
The only original front seat that uses different fixing brackets is the early-style, non-reclining seat with vertical legs. These were mainly installed in MK1 & MK2 Morris Minis, although, rather inexplicably, some early MK3s (pre-1973) were also fitted with this style of non-reclining seat.
If you have vertical-leg, non-reclining front seats, you should also have the matching metal-rail rear seat assembly, with two metal rails — one at the top of the squab and one underneath the front of the cushion — rather than the wire squab frame assembly fitted to all 1973 onwards Minis.
If you have an early MK3, please make sure you double-check the style of front seats (looped-leg or vertical-leg) and rear seat assembly (wire squab frame or metal rail) fitted to your Mini.
For reference, my seat retrim service includes removal of your old seat covers, cleaning of the frames, painting the frame legs in black, steaming the foams and fitting the new seat covers. If required, I can also completely refurbish your seats, including fitting new membranes and/or foams.

Cobra Seats (Retrims)
Cobra seat swaps are by far the most popular Classic Mini front seat conversion, and it's easy to see why.
The Cobra Classic, Cobra Classic RS, Cobra Cub and Cobra Monte-Carlo, from Cobra's incredible Historic Seats range, are all designed specifically for installation in classic cars. Their old-school design and retro functionality not only look great, but also fit perfectly within the Classic Mini cockpit.
Alternatively, the Cobra Le Mans, from Cobra's Sports Seats range, is a great solution if you're looking for a more comfortable seat. Like the fixed-back bucket seats, it looks incredible, with its 1990s fast Ford styling, while still fitting perfectly within the Classic Mini cockpit.
For reference, the Cobra Classic Mini subframe kit is designed to use the same fixing points as the original looped-leg front seats. The simplicity of the conversion is one of the reasons it is such a popular seat swap.
It therefore makes perfect sense to have your Cobra seats retrimmed to complement the rest of your Classic Mini interior. Prices detailed below are for the retrim of a set of brand-new Cobra seats, prices for older seats may vary.

Cobra Classic Retrims (Pair) £470

Finally, you'll find estimates below for retrimming other popular front seat swaps and rear seat options. This includes aftermarket seats, such as other Cobra fixed-back bucket seats not detailed above, as well as original seats from other classic cars.

Door Cards
Next up, the door cards. Along with the seats, these are one of the most visually important elements of your interior, so I always recommend creating them to complement your seats. Using the same trimming options and design cues helps bring the whole interior together and creates a cohesive overall theme.
I offer a range of door card designs, all of which can be customised and adapted to work alongside most seat styles and build themes. Alternatively, if you're looking for something completely different, I can design door cards from scratch, so we can create a set that's perfectly suited to your interior.
Prices listed below are for a complete set, including a pair of front door cards and a pair of rear quarter panels.
Door Cards (Full Set):
Plain Door Cards £151
Monte-Carlo Door Cards £173
Monte-Carlo Plus Door Cards £201

Interior Trim
With the main aspects of your interior covered, we can turn our attention to the interior trim. This includes the dash area (dash rails and dash trim panel kit), the rear pocket area (rear pocket trim), the parcel shelf and gaiters.
The interior trim doesn't necessarily need to stand out — it simply needs to complement the rest of your interior. The simplest approach is to match these items to your seats and door cards, using the same trimming options to tie everything together.
The parcel shelf board, however, provides a great opportunity to introduce a subtle feature. My standard options include a Union Jack stitched board, adding a small detail to what would otherwise be a plain panel. Other options could include incorporating elements of your door card design, such as matching piping and stitching, or continuing the rear seat squab cover design onto the parcel shelf.
Likewise, if you're installing a dash trim panel kit, this can provide another opportunity to introduce a little more character. Small pockets and featured trimming options, such as basketweave or cloth, can be used to complement the seats and door cards and help bring the whole interior design together.

Carpet Kits
The final aspect of your interior is the carpet. An essential part of any Mini, a quality carpet kit can really finish your interior off and bring everything together.
Designed here at Optimise Automotive to be the ultimate Classic Mini carpet kit, my carpet sets have been developed by me and are unique to Optimise Automotive.
Each individual panel is shaped to align with the contours of the Classic Mini floor pan, with every section of the floor covered — including the under-rear-seat upright subframe mounting panel and main floor crossmember.
My carpet sets are also constructed with a closed-cell foam backing, providing modern sound reduction and insulation. This replaces traditional underlay, so there is no need to install a separate underlay kit alongside my carpet sets.
For reference, all of my carpet kits are supplied with matching gear and handbrake gaiters.

Boot Lining Kits
Home of the Classic Mini boot lining kit since 2005 and still the undisputed king today. Boot liners are where it all started for me, and it still gives me immense pleasure to create the best boot liners on the market for your beloved Minis.
My range is designed to perfectly complement the rest of your interior, with both carpet and leatherette trimming options available.
If you regularly use your Mini's boot, I recommend choosing a carpet-trimmed option. They look absolutely brilliant and, with durable carpet trimming, offer excellent usability. Alternatively, a leatherette-trimmed kit creates a stunning show-piece finish that's sure to wow the crowds when your Mini is parked up at a show.
As with the seats and door cards, my boot liners are fully customisable and can be adapted to work alongside your project and the overall design of your interior.

Carpet Boot Lining Kit With Runners + Battery Access Panel £235
